Kitchen tools are essential for daily cooking, but lack of proper care not only shortens their lifespan but can also pose a food safety risk. Therefore, mastering scientific daily care methods is crucial.

Knife Care

Knife tools are among the most frequently used tools in the kitchen. Rinse them immediately with warm water after use and avoid soaking them for extended periods to prevent rusting of the blades or warping of the wooden handles. After washing, dry them with a soft cloth and apply a light coat of cooking oil (especially for high-carbon steel knives) to maintain their sharpness. When storing, use a knife holder or magnetic knife strip to prevent blunting of the blades from contact with other metal objects.

Cookware Care

Avoid using a metal spatula with non-stick pans; use a wooden or silicone spatula instead to minimize damage to the coating. When cleaning, wait until the pan has cooled and then gently wipe with a sponge; never use steel wool. Iron pans require regular "watering" and "conditioning." After use, dry them and apply a thin coat of cooking oil to prevent rust. If a stainless steel pot has water stains or yellowing, wipe it with white vinegar or a baking soda solution to restore its shine.

Electrical Appliance Cleaning

Power tools like blenders and juicers should be disassembled and cleaned promptly after use to prevent food residue from accumulating and breeding bacteria. Microwave and oven interiors can be regularly heated with lemon water to evaporate and remove odors and grease. Avoid scratching the inside of rice cookers with hard objects to prevent the coating from peeling.

Other Tool Care

Cutting boards should be thoroughly cleaned and dried after use. Wooden cutting boards can be regularly treated with salt and olive oil to prevent cracking. Silicone molds and plastic containers should be kept away from high temperatures to prevent warping.

Good kitchen tool care habits not only extend the life of the utensils but also ensure hygienic and safe cooking. Through daily and careful maintenance, each tool will perform at its best.
